Panama Missions

The Meigs Avenue Church of Christ in Jeffersonville, Indiana is the pioneer in the work in Panama. It began in 1958 when our (then) local preacher Bob Bryson made a trip to Cristobal and Balboa, Panama (which was in the Canal Zone at that time). He conducted a gospel meeting in Cristobal(near Colon) during that year, during which time he taught and baptized Ramon Mendez, the Lieutenant-Governor of Colon, who later came to the U.S. amd attended Michigan Christian College in Rochester, MI, after which he became a preacher of the Gospel. Since this time the Meigs Ave. congregation has been involved in the work in Panama. I, along with others of the congregation have worked in 15 missionary trips to Panama. Bob Bryson was instrumental in starting the first Bible school in Panama. It is now known as the Bible School of the Americas and is located near Panama City. Lionel Cortez is the Director. 18 men graduated from the school in 2002. Evans Campbell is a native Panamanian who has worked in numerous campaigns throughout the years.
