Congratulations to the Bible Bowl Teams for a great effort! With 67 high school teams competing, the team of Elizabeth Blanton, Marah Casey, Jeremy Sweeney, and Heather White finished in 4th place; and the team of Daniel Tincher, Hank Tincher, Bobbi Sue Waddell, and Krystal White finished in 10th place. In addition, in the individual competition (out of approximately 270 participants), Bobbi Sue placed 1st as she answered every question correctly. Elizabeth Blanton placed 3rd and missed only 2 questions. I am proud of their hard work, and commend them for their cooperative spirit and overall exemplary behavior. We are blessed to have a great group of young people at Meigs Ave.
Nine Qualities to Grow a Marriage
Ron Kincaid has written a book entitled, The Secrets of Deciding Wisely. It is a book about choices, the consequences of our choices, and the secrets to making wise choices. In one chapter, Kincaid highlights the choices we make in marriage. He lists nine qualities that can grow a marriage:
1.Kindness: Do something special for your spouse. Relinquish something or agree to something that will make all the difference to your mate. 2. Humility: Pride can destroy a marriage. But humility will allow us to have a proper view of ourselves and will also empower us to ask forgiveness when we have acted foolishly. 3. Patience: Be understanding of the needs, concerns and weaknesses of your spouse. 4. Love: Love is shown by placing the needs of your spouse first. Be sensitive to what is most important to your mate. 5. Peace: This must be carefully guarded in the home. To have peace, you must keep the communication lines open. 6. Thankfulness: To transform your marriage, start noticing all the good things you love and share with your mate. 7. Forgiveness: The standard for forgiveness is Jesus. 8. God's Word: The best instruction for marriage is to turn to the God who created love and marriage. 9. Pleasing God: We will improve our relationships when our only motive is to please the Lord.
Do you realize that every principle stated above is found within the text of Ephesians 5:22-33? I suggest that you read these verses again, and apply every quality that will make your marriage great!
