A Note from the PreacherLarry Sweeney

Our sister in Christ, Karen Holthouser, passed from this earth Tuesday evening, July 25th. Karen will be remembered as a person who trusted in God and lived above the circumstances of her life. Her bright smile and positive outlook was the result of claiming the promise of 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” Our sympathy is extended to Virginia and the rest of the family.

God is Faithful!

Has anyone ever lied to you? Has anyone ever made you a promise and then broke that promise? Have you ever made an agreement with someone only to have that person break the agreement? Sadly, all of us can answer “Yes!” to each of these questions because such is the character of mankind. People can be and are fickle. They will lie. They will forget or ignore promises. They will break agreements.
But isn't it wonderful to know that in this skeptical, irresponsible, insecure, ever-changing world there is security and steadfastness in the Lord God of heaven! God never forgets and cannot lie. We are reminded of the words to the Hebrews, “Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation…” (Hebrews 6:17-18).
In a world of uncertainty; God is the very essence of certainty. In a world that is always changing; the nature of God does not change. And this is how it has always been. When God made promises in the Old Testament, He fulfilled them in Christ (Acts 13:32-33). No matter what God has said, we can know He will accomplish His purposes.
With this in mind, may we always remember that God is faithful to reward those who obey Him and punish those who do not obey.

“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack with him who hates Him; He will repay him to his face.” (Deuteronomy 7:9-10).

To all people everywhere: GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES! HE WILL NOT FORGET! HE CANNOT LIE! HE IS FAITHFUL!
